Where does “Talley-O” come from? Taylor + Kelley = Talley with a side of “O”. Where does the fox come from? Tally-ho is an Old English term used by huntsman to tell others game has been sighted. It was first used in fox-hunting during the 19th century.

After leaving the VIA Agency with our combined design and management experience, co-founders Liza Kelley Sperry and Rachel Taylor formed Talley-O Design. They wanted to operate on a smaller scale providing each of our clients the dedicated attention their projects deserved. Talley-O has grown the team to include accomplished strategists, writers and designers.

With a combined 50+ years of experience, our team has the background and knowhow to take on challenging marketing strategy projects and implement beautiful design. We have brand development expertise in all of the following areas: branding & identity design, advertising, information design, magazine & publication design, book design, collateral design, set design, in-store merchandising displays & graphics, billboards & displays, indoor & outdoor signage, and web & digital design.

We focus our entire team on each project, start to finish. We believe in consistent and direct communication to navigate successfully through the design process.

The work needs to get out of your head and on the table. And it needs to be done from the heart.

Liza Kelley Sperry Founder / Design DirectorLiza graduated with honors from Maine College of Art & Design with a BFA in Graphic Design. She earned the highest ranking scholarship at MECA&D with her winning Gearys Summer Ale package design. She started her design career at the VIA Agency, art directing and designing ad campaigns for Welch’s, Maidenform, Seagram’s Escapes, Backyard Farms, Lojack, DuPont and Dundee Beer. Here, she received a merit and silver award for art directing a VIA self promotion campaign hung on 40 ft high billboards in the SoHo district of NYC. After leaving VIA, Liza specialized in designing for environmentally focused communications including clients, Green Builder, Portland Trails, Greater Portland Landmarks and Green & Healthy Maine. Liza’s latest passion projects include renovating her turn-of-the-century camp with her husband, Patrick and daughter’s Sylvia and Lydia in her hometown of Monson, Maine. And supplying goods for Sperry General Store—a home décor and gift-focused design business. Her art can be seen on Maine Cabin Masters, in Downeast Magazine, and in various boutique shops throughout Maine. Oh and pick up a pint of Gifford’s ice cream, that’s her illustrations on the new package design.

Rachel Cochrane Taylor Founder / Account DirectorRachel is a multi-tasker supreme who runs the client management side of Talley-O, but supports the design side as well: Her degree is a BFA in printmaking from Bates College. A Maine native, she lived in Seattle for four years where she worked as a visual merchandiser for Macy’s. She continued that pursuit after transferring to Macy’s in Boston. Her transition to the account side began when she moved back to Maine and started working at The VIA Agency as an account executive. While there she managed accounts for Klondike, Seagram’s Escapes, DuPont, Unum and Colonial Life. Rachel also freelances at O’Brien design as a production designer and design assistant. In her non-ample spare time, Rachel is rearing a passel of young Mainers with her husband, Andrew, another hardworking entrepreneur.
